NEW SHARON — A Pennsylvania man on his way to the Phish concert in Limestone was arrested Friday after state troopers found drugs and alcohol stashed in the car.
Michael Kovack, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine, a misdemeanor. By late afternoon, he remained at the Franklin County jail on $1,000 cash bail, according to a jail intake worker.
Trooper Derek Record said he was on routine patrol when he pulled a car over near the Mercer town line. Record said the car was was going 80 mph in a 55 mph zone. Record called for backup from Trooper Jarod Stedman, who was assigned to a special traffic detail in response to the flood of cars heading to Limestone from around the state.
In the car, Record found beer and two gallons of liquor that was allegedly purchased out-of-state by Kovack, who is underage and prohibited from drinking or transporting liquor across state lines. Police also searched the car and found marijuana, hashish and cocaine hidden throughout the vehicle along with scales, bags and a large amount of money.
"It looked like he was set up to do dealing," Record said.
